Dr Natasha Campbell McBride, more than 20 yrs ago discovered the CARNIVORE diet. She later called it the “NO PLant GAPS diet.” GAPS stands for Gut and Psychology Syndrome or as I say Gut and Everything Syndrome. She banned sugar and grains and even fruits and vegetables from the diet of many mental patients and guess what? They recovered their health fully, because fatty meat, eggs, fish and fermented dairy is non- inflammatory.

Dr N is a medical doctor, a Nutritionist and now an organic farmer, and has always said to ADD beneficial life forms to a diseased place, and not to “go after” the bad bugs with antibiotics. Organic growers learnt long time ago that the only long term remedy for pest invasions was to introduce predators of that pest, right? It is folly to spray insect pests as their predators are killed too , right?

In the human gut , taking antibiotics , anti- fungals, anti virals , even HERBAL versions dispensed by chiropracters and Naturopaths, is guaranteed to knock out our important beneficial gut microbes, (which in good numbers) kept pathogenic types in check. The first thing to come back and do a rapid take- over when all life is killed ( both in our gut and in the soil) are the opportunists, like the pathogenic fungi candida, or the root- wilting fusarium fungi which plagues growers who fumigate the soil with mercury compounds.

So how can we introduce good bugs to outcompete the pests that cause disease in our gut? Well, we can brew up our own probiotics at home in the form of symbiotic colonies of beneficial bacteria, fungi, protozoa etc. Examples are kefir grains, kombucha scoby and sauer kraut or beet kvass. These are communities of probiotic microbes living in their biofilms. A GAPS coach will teach you how to make these probiotics.

When our wise body is overwhelmed with toxic metals coming from vaxines or a broken compact fluro light bulb or smoke inhalation, or methyl bromide sprays on fruit, it invites in worms and candida to help clean up. The mercury is absorbed into the bodies of that clean up crew. Eventually they and their rubbish will be escorted out when the site is clean. Ease and comfort returns. However if toxins keep coming from our environment, the fungi and worm “hoovers” have to remain in us, mopping up messes. One very serious toxin, and I won’t be popular for saying this, is wifi.

I can only describe GAPS as “going back to basics” and ” trusting in Nature”, and “Relying on traditional Wisdom” . Dr N does this little chuckle sometimes when she she thinks about conventional medicine and even some Naturopaths. She says they are “too sciency”. I use to tie myself in knots trying to “balance the minerals” in my soil (with organic approved inputs of course), but what a relief it was when Dr Elaine Ingham, soil microbiologist, said ” let Nature take care of it”. Exactly the same approach to Dr Natasha.
